What heavy bleeding means

Heavy bleeding means periods that soak through pads or tampons faster than usual, last longer than a week, or include large clots. It can happen on its own, or alongside things like fibroids, adenomyosis, a thyroid condition or a bleeding disorder.

Why a record helps

A clear record of how heavy and how often it happens helps a clinician work out the cause. Numbers are easier to describe than a feeling: how many changes, how heavy, and for how many days.

What you can record in The Veda Circle

  • Your flow each day: light, medium, heavy or flooding
  • How many times you changed your pad or tampon
  • Anything else you want to remember, in your own words

Taking it to your appointment

The doctor-ready report is built from your own entries for the dates you choose. Share it, print it or save it as a PDF.

When to get help

If you are soaking through a pad or tampon every hour for several hours, or you feel dizzy, faint or breathless, seek urgent care. If you are in danger or need urgent help, call your local emergency number: 112 in Malta and across the EU, or 999 in the UK. Heavy bleeding that keeps happening, bleeding between periods, or bleeding after sex is also worth raising with a doctor.
