What PMDD is
PMDD is premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It is a severe, cyclical mood condition driven by sensitivity to the normal hormonal changes of the cycle, rather than a hormone imbalance. Symptoms tend to cluster in the second half of the cycle and ease within days of bleeding starting.
Why a record helps
PMDD is recognised by its timing. Clinicians look for a pattern across two or more cycles, so a day by day record is often easier to rely on than memory, especially in the weeks when everything feels heavy.
What you can record in The Veda Circle
- Your mood each day, set against your cycle day
- What else you noticed, from sleep changes to sensory sensitivity, and anything that strained your relationships
- Your own words, in a short note, whenever you want to add one
- A guide in the app on what to track and the kinds of support people discuss with a clinician, such as talking therapy, certain antidepressants and some hormonal contraceptives
Taking it to your appointment
The app builds a doctor-ready report from your own entries for the dates you choose. You can share it, print it or save it as a PDF, so your clinician sees the pattern in a minute or two.
When to get help
Please tell someone today if you have thoughts of ending your life or urges to harm yourself. If you are in danger or need urgent help, call your local emergency number: 112 in Malta and across the EU, or 999 in the UK. Also speak to a doctor if your symptoms disrupt work, relationships or caring for others, or if you do not have a symptom free week after your period.
Every plan starts with 14 days free. Cancel any time. Available now on Google Play. iPhone coming soon: join the list.
Common questions
Is PMDD the same as PMS?
No. PMS is common and usually milder. PMDD is a more severe condition that significantly disrupts daily life. Only a clinician can tell you which one fits.
How long should I track before seeing a doctor?
Clinicians look for a pattern across two or more cycles, so many people track for at least two cycles. You do not have to wait, though. You can see a doctor at any point and bring what you have.
Can The Veda Circle diagnose PMDD?
No. It helps you keep a clear record and prepare for your appointment. Diagnosis and treatment are for your doctor.
Is my PMDD data private?
Yes. Your entries are saved on your phone. We never receive them, so we cannot read, sell or share them.
